To celebrate 125 years of musical history, Sony have treated themselves to a headquarters makeover. Alex Fowkes was commissioned to create a typographic timeline of all Sony’s signed artists, from 1887 to date. Nearly 1000 artists names cover 150 square metres of white wall throughout the building. The typefaces are varied so it doesn’t look repetitive, illustrations add some noise, but our eyes can cope with it. It makes sense, it looks incredible, and I’m sure it makes HQ feel so much more alive. It’s the typographic answer to Sony blasting out their music on monster speakers all day. I really like it, watch the video to see how it was done.
